NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation
The NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation — Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new purchasers. NRA FIRST Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type. This classroom portion of this course is about three hours long and is followed by up to two hours of range time to learn how to shoot a specific pistol action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, the particular pistol model parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, cleaning the pistol, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate, and Lesson Plan. For the safety of our Participants, NO LIVE AMMUNITION is allowed in our classrooms please.
What to Bring:

The handgun you wish to shoot (One can be provided for a small extra cost).

50 rounds of ammunition for the gun you brought (If you will be using our firearm, please bring 9mm).

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is at least 10-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, shooting from the bench rest position, two handed and one handed standing positions, cleaning the pistol, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, course completion certificate, and Lesson Plan. For the safety of our participants, NO LIVE AMMUNITION is allowed in the classrooms please.

Introduction to Pistol Safety
Introduction to Pistol Safety is a NON-NRA course that is designed to provide the basics of pistol safety in areas where getting range time is difficult. This course satisfies the requirements in the states of Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina to apply for a concealed handgun permit. This course is designed to be a starting point in the pursuit of firearm safety knowledge and should always be followed up with practical instruction at the earliest time possible. The classroom portion of Introduction to Pistol Safety takes about three hours and closely follows the safety guidelines set forth by the NRA despite the fact that it is not an NRA sanctioned class due to the lack of a live fire exercise. A course booklet will be provided to students for this course. For the safety of our participants, NO LIVE AMMUNITION is allowed in the classroom please.

Introduction to Tactical Rifles
Introduction to Tactical Rifles is a NON-NRA course that is designed to give students a general overview of the AR-15 or AK-47 platforms. Topics such as cleaning, sighting, troubleshooting, beginner tactical movement, shooting, and safety are covered in this immersion course. The classroom portion of this course is generally between 3-4 hours with the range portion being 2 hours following a 30 minute break for lunch. This class is taught by a former Marine MP with over 10 years of tactical experience and a wealth of knowledge. This class has a maximum enrollment of 5 students and fills up quickly.

AFT Firearm Orientation
AFT Firearm Orientation is a NON-NRA experience designed to expose a group to a wide variety of firearms. Groups of ten or more can book a morning or afternoon in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and have the opportunity to shoot in tandem with other outdoor activities such as four-wheeling, fishing, hunting, canoeing, boating, etc.. Our facility for this activity is located in Luray, Virginia. A short list of the firearms that may be provided:
- 9mm semi-auto handguns
- .45 cal semi-auto handguns
- .22 revolvers
- AR-15s
- AK-47s
- .30-06 hunting rifles
- .50 cal sniper rifle
- various lever action hunting rifles.
